The role
An opportunity has arisen for the appointment of 2 full time principal officers.
As an active and enthusiastic field officer, you will be an important part of this busy team which is responsible for private sector housing enforcement including mandatory, additional & selective licensing, taking action to remedy hazards in housing and investigation of private sector housing & public health complaints. You will be required to prepare reports & give evidence in relation to legal proceedings and give evidence at the RPT where appropriate.
As a principal officer you will have post qualification experience. You will train and supervise trainees and provide mentoring and guidance to officers. You will be expected to work with a minimum of supervision
The private sector housing market in Southwark is varied and the work you will undertake will be challenging but will equip you with a wide range of skills and experiences.
You must hold a relevant degree in an appropriate discipline or an equivalent academic or professional standard, for example a BSc, MSc or HNC/HND in Environmental Health, a HNC/HND in Building Studies. Holders of other qualifications should make contact to find out if the qualification is relevant. You must be qualified to carry out assessments under the Housing Health & Safety Rating System.
