The role
Southwark Council is committed to placing the local people at the heart of decision-making and raising the standards of all our services.
The Constitutional Team is an influential team located at the centre of the authority, charged with supporting the decision making processes.
In this challenging role, you will lead and manage a group of officers providing high quality support to the council’s decision making bodies, including cabinet, planning committee, council assembly, other committees and panels.
Working closely with the Monitoring Officer and Head of Constitutional Services, you will play an important role in maintaining the highest standards of corporate governance.
With your considerable experience of dealing with democratic and constitutional issues, you’ll be adept at finding solutions and providing complex advice to councillors, officers and members of the public. The ability to work in a politically sensitive environment should be second nature to you.
To succeed, we are looking for someone who can plan and develop long term improvements and efficiencies in the decision making environment. This may include leading on management projects. As an excellent communicator, you will work closely with councillors and senior officers.
A working knowledge of modern.gov would be useful, but is not essential.
(COVID-19) - information for job applicants: Southwark Council are following the most recent Government guidelines surrounding Corona virus.
