The Role:

This is a newly created role, at an exciting time for the service. After delivering significant improvement following a major review of youth services in 2020, we are now moving into the next phase of development and considerably expanding the team.

This role is pivotal in driving our continued improvement and our ambitious programme of delivery for our youth centres. You will lead a team of senior youth workers and youth workers and work directly with young people to support their personal development by providing appropriate programmes of activities including youth work sessions, outreach and detached youth. You will also lead the team in  removing barriers in accessing youth provision and facilitating the inclusion of all young people in activities taking account of their individual needs and cultures. 

You will be responsible for developing an exciting programming for both targeted and open access youth work provision, in line with young people and community needs, ensuring young people’s participation in all aspects of planning, monitoring and evaluating the service.   
Liaising with key stakeholders and partners such as schools, voluntary sector and other council departments to ensure opportunities for young people are maximised across the organisations and that the highest quality provision for young people is delivered will be another key aspect of this role. 

About You:

The post holder will have in-depth knowledge of front line youth services operations and can successfully lead and motivate teams, innovation and excellence in service delivery. They will be an active champion for young people, advocating for and ensuring that they are heard and understood as provision for our youth centres is developed. Their passion and enthusiasm for the delivery of excellent services will be matched by experience of leading teams and working directly with young people.

This is an exciting opportunity for a capable and energetic  team leader who is keen to develop and deliver excellent services for children and young people in Southwark.

Additional Information:

- Ideally qualified to degree level or equivalent, with experience of youth and play services

- This is a full-time role which requires regular evening and weekend working

- Job Share would be considered

- DBS check is required
