The role

At Southwark YOS, we believe that all young people have the right to receive a relevant and effective education and should have the opportunity to enter further education, training or employment.

Southwark YOS believes that young offenders need to have second, third and ongoing chances to make the most of ETE opportunities.

Southwark YOS regards education, training and employment as a foundation for rehabilitation of young offenders and the most effective route to community integration.
We are looking for a qualified, experienced, committed and creative ETE Officer to work both with schools and with employment, further education and training providers.
We are looking for somebody who understands the education system and the world of work and the barriers many young people face in accessing and using ETE opportunities.
We are looking for an individual who can engage with ‘hard to reach’ young people, advocate and open doors for them.

You will need excellent communication skills, an ability to work flexibly and independently and a commitment to empowering young people and their families

Applicants should be prepared to work a 36-hour week, sometimes involving after-hours meetings, visits or training sessions.

Applicants should have experience of working with young people who have offended and understand the impact of crime on victims and communities.
