The role

At Southwark Youth Justice Service we believe that restorative practice benefits young offenders, those they have harmed and the wider community.  We believe that restorative practices can repair or rebuild relationships in a respectful and empowering way, in the justice system, in schools, in workplaces and in our communities.

We are looking for a new member of our Restorative Justice and Victim Team, who has completed a minimum of three days training in Restorative Practice, who believes in restorative values and principles and who is committed to enabling others to repair harm.

About you:

You will be an individual who can engage with young people who have committed offences, with their families and with those who have been harmed by them, from a wide range of backgrounds, ages and abilities. As an RJVO you will work to overcome communication barriers caused by adverse life experiences and discrimination amongst our service users.

You will need excellent communication skills, an ability to work flexibly and independently and a commitment to empowering young people, their families and individuals and communities affected by crime.

Applicants should be prepared to work a 36-hour week, sometimes involving after-hours meetings, visits or training sessions.
