IT & Digital Services sits within the Modernise division (along with HR, Facilities Management and Transformation) of the Housing and Modernise department. Modernise provide a joined up service to the business delivering change that affects where and how staff work and what they do.

The Web Project Manager will play a key role in enabling the delivery of this vision.


The Role:

The Project Manager is responsible for managing and delivering complex and multiple projects simultaneously across Technology & Digital Service. This includes planning, mobilisation, implementation, transition to live and management of project resources. The post holder will manage a range of projects supporting the organisation.

The Project Manager will ensure that projects are delivered within financial, quality and scope constraints and they are responsible for project reporting and the production of all project-related artefacts.

The Project Manager will support complex, systems and organisational redesign projects, lead on, and contribute to multi-disciplinary and multiple project teams to deliver organisational and cultural change across the council.

About You:

The right candidate will bring a wealth of experience managing multiple IT projects within a large and complex IT environment, including mitigating risk and assumptions, resolving issues. The Project Manager will need significant experience in building and sustaining relationship with business departments at a strategic level, including council members and senior operational directors. The role will ensure that appropriate standards are met and procedures are followed to motivate the project teams to deliver excellence on time and to budget every time.

You will bring excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage and influence internal and external stakeholders. We are looking for an innovative problem solver, who can operate effectively in a local government environment, it is therefore essential that you demonstrate an awareness of issues that we face. You will be able to show appropriate vocational or academic qualifications for the post, or equivalent work experience.

Additional Information:
The basic working hours for this role is 36 per week. Candidates should be aware that there is a requirement to attend meetings outside normal working hours wherever this is necessary for the effective performance of the job. Southwark has a strong flexible working ethos and believes in focusing on outcomes.
