The role
About Southwark:
Southwark is a large, ambitious and progressive council with a ‘can do’ attitude and enviable reputation. As a Council, we are successful, passionate and forward-thinking. We are committed to our ‘Fairer Futures for All’ promise which ensures that our residents and businesses are central to everything we do. If you want to make a difference at a local level, apply to Southwark Council today.
The Role:
The Southwark Travel Assistance Team organises travel assistance for SEND children and young people to reach their educational establishments, helping some of the most vulnerable children and families in the borough.
We are currently looking for someone to join us as our Travel Assistance Assessment Co-ordinator, who will be responsible for assessing applications for travel assistance to establish eligibility and propose the most cost-effective mode of assistance for eligible children and young people.
This is an exciting time for Travel Assistance in Southwark, who have recently appointed a Sustainable Travel and Post 19 Development Lead, to determine how the service should be taken forward in the best possible way to promote independence, at the same time promoting sustainable travel for those who are able, whilst providing a core transport service for those whose needs mean they are unable to get to their educational establishments any other way.
About You:
We are looking for a committed individual who has previous knowledge of SEND Travel Assistance and is willing to take a full part in developing the service.
You will need to be able to communicate effectively with parents, transport providers and partner services.
Additional Information:
All applicants will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
In accordance with Southwark’s determination to provide the best working environment for its officers, flexible working patterns will be considered.
