Our new transformation programme, Residents First, is strengthening how we put residents at the heart of everything we do. As our Transformation Communications Manager, you will bring that vision to life for our 5,000+ colleagues through compelling communications and content that inspire change, build understanding and help create a truly resident-focused culture.
What You'll Be Doing
As Transformation Communications Manager, you will play a pivotal role in embedding our Residents First vision and supporting organisational change across the council.
You will:
- Design and deliver the transformation communications plan, helping to shape organisational culture and support successful change.
- Lead the development of engaging content and campaigns that bring complex transformation activity to life for colleagues.
- Use insight, feedback and evaluation to measure engagement, identify opportunities and continuously improve communications activity.
- Work collaboratively with HR, Organisational Development, Change and Strategy colleagues to support behaviour change, increase leadership visibility and promote colleague wellbeing.
- Provide strategic communications advice and guidance to senior stakeholders, including directors, the Chief Executive and Corporate Management Team members.
- Develop compelling narratives and creative storytelling that build understanding, inspire action and encourage colleagues to embrace change.
- Lead communication planning for key transformation milestones and programmes across the organisation.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced transformation communications professional who is creative, collaborative, proactive and passionate about making a difference.
You will bring:
- Experience of working on large, organisation-wide transformation communications programmes.
- Significant experience in planning, delivering and evaluating transformation communications strategies and activities.
- Experience of engaging and influencing a wide range of stakeholders, including providing strategic communications advice to senior leaders.
- Experience producing content across digital channels and managing external suppliers and agencies.
- Experience supporting organisational culture change through communication and engagement activity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear and engaging messages.
- Strong content creation, storytelling and campaign management skills.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- A collaborative and inclusive approach that builds strong relationships across teams and services.

Additional Information
Contract Type: Fixed-term contract for 2 years
Working Pattern: Hybrid working, with a minimum of two days per week based in Southwark and attendance across the borough as required
Location: Tooley Street and other Southwark locations
Evening/Weekend Working: Occasional evening or weekend work may be required, with Time Off In Lieu (TOIL) provided
