The Role:
An excellent entry level role working within our transactional finance team processing all income received by the council and payments to suppliers and residents who receive services provided by the council. The role will provide support across transactional finance in relation to vendor and customer master data, projects and performance, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
The team process thousands of invoices and payments each month and it is a varied and fast paced service. You will have the opportunity to gain a broad knowledge of financial processes across a large organisation and to work with colleagues across finance and other services.
You will study an AAT level 2 or 3 apprenticeship and begin your finance career, whilst being supported by colleagues who are finance professionals. This is an opportunity to work directly with our qualified accountants and learn on the job.
Duties of the role include;
- To use the financial management system to process financial transactions accurately and on time on a daily basis.
- Support the customer and vendor creation process using the financial management system and associated systems
- Contribute to transactional finance related projects, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ensure that audit requirements are met in relation to documentation and record keeping on the financial management system.
About You:
If you have an enjoyment of maths and hold minimum GCSE in Maths grade C/4, have a good attention to detail and would like to begin your career in finance this is a role for you. You will need to work effectively in a team environment with varied duties and also enjoy studying and gaining new knowledge.
The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in pursuing a career in finance with no previous/or limited finance qualifications. A willingness to learn, challenge themselves and be reliable. This is an entry level role, providing that first stepping stone.

Additional Information:
5*GCSE grade A - C to include English and Mathematics or a relevant finance qualification or relevant experience at an appropriate level.
You will work 4 days (29 hours) in the workplace and receive one day per week college study.
The apprenticeship is an 18 month fixed term contract
