The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Legal Services Department at the London Borough of Southwark which is based at London Bridge. This is a 2 year fixed term, full time training contract which involves undertaking at least 3 seats within Legal Services, during which you will gain experience in a range of interesting and challenging contentious and non-contentious areas of local authority law and to qualify in the Professionals Skills Course and gain admittance to the Roll of Solicitors. You will assist and support the legal team in its delivery of the highest quality legal service to clients within the Council, including the Cabinet, Committees other bodies and elected Members.
About You
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual who has successfully completed their Legal Practice Course and is committed to the prospect of working in Local Government. You will have experience of working in a legal environment and excellent communication skills, as well as being accountable with the ability to grasp new areas of law quickly.
The successful candidate will be capable of working well under pressure and adhering to strict deadlines whilst demonstrating a positive, can-do attitude. An understanding or awareness of public law principles is also required.
