About Southwark Repairs

Southwark Repairs is a customer-focused service and we are working on our Improvement Plan to become a fit for the future service that put residents at its heart. We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated person to become a contract officer within the repairs delivery team. In this role you will provide support to a range of housing professionals who deliver services that include legal disrepair, arbitration, fire safety, adaptations, repairs & works across Southwark’s housing stock.

About you

We take pride in a repairs and maintenance service that responds to our resident’s needs. Managing a team of technical officers, you’ll take the lead on providing and improving our technical services.

This is a vital role with wide-ranging responsibilities. Diagnosing faults, you’ll produce detailed specifications of work for in-house and external contractors. Managing repairs, maintenance and PPM related construction services, you’ll administer contracts, keep an keen eye on contractor compliance and carry out a full span of surveying duties.

Crucially, you will develop and deliver planned improvement strategies for maintenance and services. We will rely on you to improve efficiency and reduce the demand for reactive repairs. And your team will look to you not just for direction, but inspiration too. Put simply, you will see that we meet all our obligations to tenants, residents and service providers. This now includes managing the technical functions for our in house damp and mould team.

Your credentials

- A technical qualification, such as HND Building Construction, or a professional surveying qualification

-Demonstrable knowledge of building construction and maintenance related contracts, their administration, and ways to resolve contract disputes

- Strong understanding of landlord/tenant matters and leaseholder consultation requirements

- Substantial experience of helping the public by providing clear advice and solving problems

- The ability to write concise reports on complex issues
