Southwark’s Fostering service is one of the largest in London and as such we place great emphasis on staff recruitment and development to ensure we offer our Foster carers an effective level of support as required. The fostering service is an excellent place to develop your career in management, and work collaboratively with peers and Senior management in developing Leadership skills, alongside knowledge and access to training.

The teams within the Fostering service cover the range of short and long term fostering placements as well as Special Guardianship assessments and support. The management group work closely together whilst performing a wide range of duties that correspond to the team they manage. Managers and social workers are fully supported in their roles with access to relevant training and supervision.

Southwark use a Secure Base as a model of working with families and all social workers are trained in this method of working.

About you:

You will be a qualified Social Worker with significant experience of working with children and families. You will hold a recognised social work qualification together with demonstrable experience of professional leadership, holding accountability for the practice and development of
others.

You will bring evidence of continuing professional development in line with the Professional Capability Framework for Social Workers and Practice Supervisors, to include recent experience in a social work role within a statutory setting, working with children and families, and attendance to appropriate training.
