Southwark Council is recruiting a Social Work or Occupational Therapy Team Manager for our front door team in the Older People and People with Physical Disabilities Services - (OPPD). The role requires the successful candidate to have strong leadership, excellent communication skills, is organised & creative and shares a commitment to improve the lives of our residents.
The service supports adults with physical disabilities, sensory needs, dementia and people over the age of 65+; using strengths based approaches to enable all residents to reach their full potential. The team is the first point of contact and works with our partner agencies in providing a universal offer of support, information and advice and connecting residents to their wider communities.
This post is responsible to the OPPD Service Manager. The successful applicant will lead and manage a team of staff – Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and Customer Support Officers.

About You
- You will be a registered Social Worker or HCPC registered Occupational Therapist and have experience of managing teams within Health and/or Social Care.
- You will have a genuine passion for the provision of high quality services and demonstrate a commitment to strengths based ways of working. Please note the successful candidate will require a robust understanding of Safeguarding procedures and practices and be SAM trained.
-You will have awareness of current Social Care legislation and social policy and understand the principles of Equality and Diversity and its practice.
-You will be a practical thinker and have the ability to manage competing demands, whilst keeping a cool head and ensuring we put the person at the centre of all that we do. We are looking for an experienced leader to lead a busy, fast-paced team within a high-performing inner London borough.
