The Role: 

The All Age Disability Service (0-25) service provides a comprehensive and integrated social care pathway for children &  young people with Learning Disabilities and other disabilities from childhood into adolescence and on into adulthood through a seamless care pathway.

All Age Disability team provides a comprehensive and effective integrated social work service to respond to the needs of children & young people with Learning Disabilities and other disabilities in accordance with Children’s and Adults’ legislation, departmental policies and practice.

Our Team Managers lead small focused teams that undertake strength based social care assessments, determining the need of an individual and producing outcome focussed SMART support plans. Ensuring focused interventions are delivered to safeguard children and young people and promote independence.

We are dedicated to high quality relationship-based social work, that is child-centred, family-minded, strengths & evidence-based, outcome-focused & fair. We are looking for outstanding team manager with a passion for supporting change, performance improvement & service delivery direct work. AAD teams have support with training, reflective group supervision, clinical advice & administrative support.

Our Children’s Services have been rated ‘good’ by Ofsted for over a decade, and we continue to strive for excellence in our practice and the best possible outcomes for our children & families. We have a well-embedded practice framework, underpinned by our above principles. We make extensive use of systemic and strengths-based practices, as well as restorative and attachment-informed approaches. This was noted by Ofsted in 2017 who said “Southwark attracts experienced, high-quality social workers who are keen to work in small units that employ systemic method. 

The model is well resourced and features clinical and group supervision alongside manageable caseloads. This promotes influential & effective direct work with children and families. The model is enabling a flourishing social work culture in the local authority, equipping social workers to address complex local concerns in this highly diverse community”.

About you:

We are seeking experienced Team Manager, who has the professional potential and personal attributes that our families need, & who wants to be supported to flourish. Your experience of managing a team, supporting them through change and developing a performance culture will be important as is the willingness to learn more about disability for both children & young adults.

We have fantastic career progression opportunities. In a focused visit earlier this year, Ofsted confirmed that “Staff have access to a wide range of induction and training courses. They report that they are supported and encouraged to engage in training and development, & these events provide good opportunities to reflect and focus on practice improvement”.
