The Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Licensing Team for an interim Team Leader to manage the delivery of commercial licence policy, applications and enforcement. The service delivers statutory functions in enabling businesses to apply for licences following statutory procedures and enforcement of unlicensed premises and non-compliant operators. Areas of licensing include sale of alcohol and public entertainment, gambling premises, special treatment premises, civil wedding venues, animal welfare licensing, fireworks and explosives.
About You:
You will have a broad knowledge and substantial relevant experience in licensing and enforcement procedures and law with a demonstrable track record of motivating staff, excellent communication skills, and the ability to oversee legal documents and case files. You must be able to show initiative in problem solving and decision making, along with sensitivity in managing contentious issues. Strong communication skills are important and you will be required to work with other Council departments, government agencies, external partners and members of the public.
You will be prepared to represent the division, department and council on matters relating to commercial licensing and assist with the organisation and training of junior officers providing mentoring and guidance to processing and enforcement staff.
We are looking for an experienced and driven regulatory officer with current or recent experience in licensing regulation to lead the team for an interim period of six months. You will be knowledgeable of policy implementation, licensing and enforcement procedures and managing the Night Time Economy Police and Council service. Additionally, you will be focused on ensuring that we deliver the highest standards of customer care while fulfilling our statutory responsibilities.
