About the Role:

Southwark Council is seeking a dedicated Teachers' Lead Officer to join our dynamic Education team. This pivotal role offers a unique opportunity for current Southwark staff to make a significant impact on the quality and efficiency of our Teachers’ Pensions function. You will act as the vital link between schools, members, the Council, and the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS), ensuring seamless communication and service delivery.

As a Teachers' Lead Officer, you will:

- Drive Excellence in Data Management: Reconcile member data monthly as part of the new Monthly Contributions Reconciliation (MCR) process, ensuring the accuracy and timely submission of data to the TPS

- Empower and Educate: Provide training and advice to schools and school business managers on TPS-related matters, helping them understand their statutory obligations and navigate scheme changes

- Build Collaborative Relationships: Develop strong working relationships with schools, payroll providers, and external agencies, offering expert advice and support on TPS data issues

- Deliver Insights: Produce and analyse management information and reports for senior management, facilitating informed decision-making and compliance with service standards

- Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives and project work that enhance our service delivery and engage users at all levels

About You:

You are a proactive and detail-oriented professional with a passion for education and administration. Your ability to manage complex data and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders sets you apart. Here’s what we’re looking for:

- Educational Background: You have at least a Grade C in GCSE Maths and English, demonstrating your strong foundational skills

- Technical Proficiency: You are adept with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and quickly learn new software

- Experience: You bring a minimum of 2 years of office administration experience, with familiarity in the Teachers' Pension Scheme

- Attention to Detail: Your keen eye for detail ensures data accuracy and quality assurance

- Communication Skills: You excel in both written and verbal communication, able to convey complex information clearly and concisely

- Team Player: While you can work independently, you thrive in a team setting, contributing to a cooperative and supportive work environment
