The Role:

Using your valuation and development appraisal expertise, you will have responsibility within the Team for reviewing financial viability assessments submitted with planning applications, with an emphasis on smaller scale and homeowner developments.

Following adoption of the new Southwark Plan in February this year, planning applications for all schemes are required to provide, subject to viability, the maximum amount of social rented and intermediate homes or a financial contribution.

You will be responsible for agreeing timescales and delivering a professional valuation service to planning colleagues, in accordance with the requirements of the planning application process.

The successful candidate will be based in the Corporate Property Team. The Team support the Head of Property in ensuring the Council’s operational estate is sufficient to meet the operational and service delivery objectives of the Council.

Whilst principally dealing with viability assessments, the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to be involved with acquisitions, disposals, and the provision of valuations and property advice across the broad range of the property portfolio.

About You:

Either an RICS registered valuer, or have a relevant qualification and be eligible to achieve RICS professional qualification and have extensive experience in dealing with development appraisals and valuing property assets for a variety of purposes. You will be familiar with the issues specifically affecting planning development viability.
