Southwark Building Services (SBS) provides a  24 hours a day, seven days a week repairs and maintenance service to the residents of Southwark within Repairs and Maintenance.

The service delivers day to day works alongside void works to residents across the whole of the borough.

The team consists of over 140 mobile trade operatives and apprentices and 60 office based staff located at Frensham Street Depot.

You’ll need to be organised and dedicated to offering a seamless and professional repairs service.

Customer service is at the heart of repairs and we’re looking for someone to rise to that challenge. 

This role will be overseeing the daily management and delivery of the day to day repairs in a particular work stream for Southwark Building Services. 

We are looking for someone for a three month period with a view to extending as required.

 

The role involves:

  • To lead and manage a team of trade operatives undertaking maintenance works to the Councils’ housing stock, and ensure that the highest standards are achieved and maintained. This will require the post holder to utilise their specialist building industry knowledge.

 

  • Ensure that Southwark Building Services delivers the best repairs service possible to our residents, putting them at the heart of our decision making and seeing repairs individually not as a number.

 

  • Ensure that all works are appropriately planned and undertaken quickly and professionally in order to ensure customer satisfaction.

 

  • Manage, organise and control the activities of all allocated operatives - setting targets, monitoring performance, attendance and conduct - identifying training needs and resolving issues in line with council procedures

 

  • Deliver a highly professional service through on-going technical expertise and knowledge development amongst the team, and actively encourage staff to identify and implement changes in working practices that will deliver continuous improvement.
