IT & Digital Services sits within the Modernise division (along with HR, Facilities Management and Transformation) of the Housing and Modernise department. Modernise provide a joined up service to the business delivering change that affects where and how staff work and what they do.

The Solution Architect will play a key role in enabling the delivery of this vision.

The Role:
The Solutions Architect is responsible for the technical development, maintenance and exploitation the Council’s application and solution estate providing significant input into shaping application strategies and transformation programmes. 

The Solutions Architect is responsible for developing and executing application standards across the business and supporting the drive toward application rationalisation, consolidation and reuse. They will understand the application estate and the management of technological risk.

The Solutions Architect reports to the Enterprise Architect and provides technical advice and guidance to the applications management function of Technology & Digital Service

About You:
The right candidate will bring a wealth of experience delivering complex architecture including multi-domain business and IT Applications. Given the complexity of the organisation and the associated architecture, the roles requires significant exposure to a local authority application estate. The Solutions Architect also needs to show evidence of technical knowledge and leadership experience of leading large-scales application architecture.

We anticipate the right candidate would have knowledge of trends and thinking in the market, as well as a solid understanding of the digital and technology agenda in the public sector. 

This is a senior level role within the team. Your specialist knowledge will inform policy. The Solutions Architect will have significant influence in the organisation.

Additional Information:
The basic working hours for this role is 36 per week. Candidates should be aware that there is a requirement to attend meetings outside normal working hours wherever this is necessary for the effective performance of the job. Southwark has a strong flexible working ethos and believes in focusing on outcomes. Through taking this approach, we welcome flexible working including: a commitment to regular homeworking with technology to support this.
