The role

The Role:

We are recruiting Social Workers to join our vibrant Special Guardianship and Connected Carers team as part of our Fostering Service. Alongside this team we have two fostering teams within our service.

Support offered includes:

- Regular supervision with line manager (providing opportunity for reflection and learning).

- Group supervision to reflect on case dilemmas with the team and clinical practitioner support

- Access to in-house and bespoke training

- Regular service development days

- Community events and specific team away days

Within this role, you will work with prospective carers for children who may be unable to remain in their current home environment and assess and support these carers to offer stable homes and meet these children’s needs. This will include regular visits and reflection regarding children’s presentation and behaviours linking these to attachment, secure base and trauma related theory. You will assess their capacity to care for these children and manage contact whilst balancing competing relationships or identifying potential difficulties in the future. You will ensure DBS and medicals are completed and work closely with the child’s social worker whilst assessing wider familial support. Providing a recommendation about this carer’s capacity is essential in addition to the legal framework required to sustain the placement plus a detailed plan of support. We have access to in-house and external support for SGO and Connected Carers.

As a social worker you will be key in ensuring the welfare and assessed needs of those whom we support making sure they are managed in a safe and inclusive way. We are looking for enthusiastic, passionate and motivated social workers to join our service. You will adopt a strength-based, person centred approach to your work and be able to balance challenging demands whilst growing and developing in your practice.
