The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Service Manager to join the Safeguarding & Family Support Service on a 12 month secondment or fixed term contract for members of staff on temporary/locum contracts.

As a Service Manager, you will provide professional leadership and will support and seek out collaborative opportunities across the service. You will work closely with colleagues in Family Early Help, Assessment & Intervention, Care Services and the YOS to enable a positive experience and journey for children who come to our attention.  

You will manage employees, including three Safeguarding Teams, a Specialist Parenting Assessment team driving excellent practice and outcomes for children and their families. You will also manage relevant budgets, and team/individual performance in accordance with the council procedures and objectives. 

You will be someone who is passionate and who values relationship based social worker, trauma informed practice, restorative practice and uses this amongst other models to shape the way you lead and drive social work practice, whilst aiming to achieve positive outcomes for children and their families.

About you:

Registered with the SWE and have relevant experience.

Secure knowledge and understanding of public law, statutory requirements, and high-quality safeguarding practice in relation to children and young people.

Experience of successful management of social work services for children we care for, including the management of service change and development.

Understanding of and commitment to high quality systemic, relationship based and restorative practice, in work with children, young people and families, staff and partners.

Ability to influence the views and practice of a wide range of agencies in order to promote better outcomes for children and young people. Able to inspire the highest quality practice across the service. Able to understand and manage a complex budget in order to meet statutory requirements, deliver value for money and achieve best outcomes for young people.

Proven experience of managing people and teams including motivation, engagement, performance management and development.

As a service manager, the ability to make a confident, insightful contribution to quality assurance across Children, Families and Education services.

Ability to work imaginatively across boundaries within and beyond the Directorate to ensure a coherent, effective response to the needs of young people, and to inspire others to do so too.

This post attracts an additional JNC financial benefits package of £2,724 per annum (pro-rata, April-March).

This post is being offered as a fixed term contract for 12 months. We encourage any internal employees to gain agreement from your substantive line manager if you are considering this is as a secondment opportunity.
