The Role

An opportunity has arisen in Southwark Council’s Adult Social Care (ASC) Division to lead a large service which provides support to the north of Southwark.

As the Service Manager you will provide leadership and direction to social care teams in the development of effective systems to manage the increasing demand for services.

You will be part of a senior management team who work closely together to ensure standards and targets are met or exceeded and services are effective and efficient. You will play a critical role in supporting the Divisional Management Team and a variety of boards with data and information on which evidence based decisions can be made to improve services and allocate resources.

You will be responsible for the strategic leadership and management of Adult Social Care (ASC) OP/PD North teams including SW OT’s and Telecare. In this role you will also build partnerships with other agencies and voluntary organisations to ensure that there is a network of support available to people to assist them in maximising their independence and manage Southwark’s assessment function that determines peoples budgetary entitlement after their independence has been maximised

What are we looking for from you?

• An understanding of the issues that face local government and their implications for service delivery.
• Experience of managing and developing a service
• Experience at a senior level of budget management.
• Be an adept and influential communicator who has experience of successfully engaging with staff, stakeholders and politicians.
• You will have an appreciation of the complexity of leading staff through a organisational change

The post reports directly to the Assistant Director of ASC OP/PD and is a member of the management team.

Additional Details

- Internal Role Only - We can only consider applications from internal candidates that are current employees at Southwark or agency workers who are currently on active assignment with us.

- Grade 14 + JNC Benefit of £2724 per year (pro rata). Salary levels are set by the National Joint Council (NJC) for Local Authorities Services (Inner London Spine)

- Enhanced level DBS required
