The role
We will only consider applications from internal candidates that are current employees or agency workers on an active assignment
This is a new role in the Revenue Service Charge Team which recognises the increased workload associated with Section 20 consultation on revenue repairs.
The Senior Revenue Service Charge Officer will supervise the work of the Revenue Service Charge Officers in carrying out leasehold consultation under Section 20 of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985. Reporting to the Revenue Service Charge Manager you will be responsible for the allocation of statutory consultation work, monitoring of quality and compliance in both notices served and observation responses, giving direction and advice to officers on all aspects of legislation and policy.
You will be responsible for developing robust systems, processes and practices to ensure that targets are met, liaising with service providers particularly in the responsive repairs teams in Housing in the development of appropriate liaison and the development of practice and policy where it affects leaseholder charges.
You will have a thorough understanding of Section 20 in relation to the delivery of service chargeable work and to long term agreements under which work is carried out. You will have good time management, IT and communication skills.
This role has supervisory responsibility for the S20 work that Revenue Service Charge Officers do, but stops short of management responsibility for the officers who remain under the management of the Revenue Service Charge Managers.
We aspire to improve our construction of charges through better use of technology and better liaison with the service providers who incur costs. You will be keen to assist in this through proactively identifying solutions and through effective liaison with colleagues across the council.
