The role

The Role:

The successful Senior Commercial Property Lawyer will work as part of a team of lawyers delivering a high-quality service to clients, officers of the Council, the cabinet, committees and other council bodies.

You will hold a varied and more complex commercial property caseload to include, but not limited to:

  • Complex site acquisitions and disposals of freehold and leasehold property,
  • Auction disposals,
  • Due diligence,
  • Leases, licences, acquisitions,
  • Preparation of compulsory purchase orders,
  • Regeneration matters,
  • Lead on departmental projects,
  • Undertake research upon legal questions arising from the work of team including, where necessary, briefing counsel and/or consultants and instructing experts.

Significant experience drafting commercial property documents, and of undertaking and advising on complex regeneration and commercial property projects is required.

The council operate a hybrid working policy. Full- time staff work 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

About You:

You will be an admitted Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX of England and Wales with a current practising certificate and knowledge of local government law.

You will possess a minimum of 3 years post admission experience.

You will be a team player, able to work autonomously, generous in sharing your knowledge, have a can-do attitude and be open to rolling your sleeves up and helping the team. The ability to build successful working relationships is essential.

This post is classified as ‘Hard to Fill’ and attracts the following remuneration package;

• A hard to fill benefit payment of £2,327 which can be redeemed against gym membership, health insurance, season ticket purchase, bicycle purchase, additional voluntary contribution to pension, subscription and professional fees.

• 7.5% Market factor supplement in addition to the annual salary.
