The Role:

The council has embarked on an ambitious programme, entitled Southwark Stands Together, to improve race equality within it workforce and to ensure race equality is embedded in its work with citizens.
We are developing a Project Management Office (PMO) function to drive the Workforce strand of the Southwark StandsTogether programme. The PMO will create strategies to support the effective planning, monitoring and delivery of corporate and departmental Workforce projects.
You will be expected to maximise the support we can provide to departmental workstream leads by promoting joined-up working, providing them with access to subject matter experts and exploiting synergies with other council-wide initiatives.
You will design and deliver a range of engagement activities to provide staff with opportunities to shape the future of race equality in the council.
About You:
You will:
- Have a proven track record of planning and leading projects, inspiring and supporting others and managing stakeholders, clients and team members;
- Be comfortable using data and numbers to understand problems and tell stories;
- Have experience of producing project management protocols, initiation documents and programme updates;
-Have experience of project delivery through its life cycle from inception, design and delivery to business as usual;
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Have a full understanding of the barriers to achieving race equality consistently across an organisation and an understanding of the strategies that can be adopted to improve performance.
