The role

We have an exciting opportunity for a senior-level planning or environmental specialist to join our busy Planning and Growth department. You will have expertise on assessing energy and sustainability assessments submitted with planning applications. This will support the implementation of our recently adopted and proudly ambitious energy policy in the Southwark Plan 2022. You will support staff in a learning environment and have the opportunity to develop professional skills, knowledge, behaviors, and work experience in Planning.

About You

- You will be responsible for reviewing and advising on energy assessments submitted as part of the planning application process, including providing advice at the pre-application stage and assessing energy statements, Circular Economy Statements, Whole Life Carbon Assessments, Sustainability Statements, Overheating assessments, and other sustainability-related issues.

- You will need to have an excellent grasp of planning policy implementation as you will need to provide comments on the application of the Southwark Plan and London Plan policies relating to energy and sustainability when reviewing planning application documents. You will be supporting colleagues throughout the department by providing advice and training on energy policies and assessments.

- You will require a degree in a relevant planning or environmental specialism

Additional Information:

- This is Fixed Term Contract for 24 months

- Standard 36 hours, Monday to Friday
