The Role:

Do you have the drive and inter personal skills to supervise the service charge collections team working with the Homeownership Managers to achieve excellence. This is a diverse role which requires a wide range of skills as the role involves all aspects of service charge collection and requires an understanding of both income recovery and leasehold management. 

We are recruiting for a Senior Homeownership Accounts Officer for the service charge accounts team to work in Homeownership Services based at Tooley Street, London SE1. The senior homeownership accounts officer will be working as part of Exchequer Services to provide a high quality, customer focused service to our leaseholders and freeholders. Ensuring that we maximise the collection of income for the Council

You will work closely with the other teams within Homeownership Services and also internally across the Council including Asset Management in relation to resolving customer enquiries and improving the service to our customers.

This position offers the opportunity for valuable experience for staff wishing to take on a new challenge. 

The key elements of the role are as follows:

- To be responsible for the day to day management and support of the service charge accounts officers, ensuring good governance, and that priorities are met in accordance with relevant council policies and legislation.

- To assist the homeownership manager (Income) with managerial tasks and day to day monitoring of the team in order to meet all targets. Allocating casework to cover staff absences ensuring that customers are not disadvantaged by absence and correspondence targets are met and to maximise income.

- Supporting the homeownership managers to achieve continuous improvement by reviewing the policies, procedures and processes.

- To achieve such targets that may be set for the service by the Council and/or the Homeownership Manager and to ensure service provision is properly controlled and monitored.

- To manage your own portfolio of up to 800 properties, taking sole ownership of the collection of that portfolio whilst operating as an effective team member.

About You:

You will need:

Experience of staff management and a strong knowledge and a strong knowledge and understanding of all aspects of leasehold management including but not limited to, leases and freehold transfers, service charge collections and enforcement, database/systems management and online access to services.

An understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice in both the workplace and service delivery.

Experience of and ability to make decisions which are informed by analysing information from customers and systems.

Ability to prioritise work effectively, to meet deadlines and to deal with conflicting priorities.  Ability to work to set standards and targets.  Effective time management skills

Ability to work on own initiative and be self-motivated and committed to providing a service to customers.  Evidence of a strong customer focus and ability to contribute to continuous improvement.
