The role

The Role:

There are two Senior Finance Manager roles available in Southwark  to support Adults Social Care, Commissioning and Public health and Education .  You’ll support services which work with some of our most vulnerable residents, so you must be a confident finance professional with a collaborative, open working style. You will be managing a team which key aim is to be responsible for financial and management accounting and reporting for both General Fund in Adults and Education as well as Dedicated School Grant. You will also be the primary lead for co-ordinating the annual budget setting and closing process for each of the areas.

Senior Finance manager in Education: 

Southwark are looking to recruit a Senior Finance Manager with significant experience in School Finance at management level including all DSG as well as General Fund areas. You will have experience in stakeholder engagement to support Schools Forum, building good relationship with headteachers, governors and education directorate. The role will be responsible on dealing with day-to-day activities of running a well-established school’s finance team, as well as some projects that the education department in Southwark embarked on. The role holder is expected to have the necessary technical knowledge to oversee all aspects of education finance and oversee the required internal and external statutory reporting requirements.

Senior Finance manager Adults Social Care, Commissioning and Public Health: 

We are looking for someone with experience in working across joint working and partnership arrangement especially with health as well as experience in significant procurement and commissioning projects. Ideal candidate would have local authority finance experience working with  section 75 agreements such as the Better Care Fund, as well as experience in managing grants and income such as for the Public Health grant, Social Care grant as well as specific grant income for supporting hospital discharges.

About you:

We want only the best for Southwark and we are seeking a qualified accountant with a strong background in finance, preferably in a social care, Commissioning and/or Education and DSG . You will have an excellent track record of achievement. The successful candidate will be expected to have sound financial and analytical abilities, strong leadership and excellent people and communication skills. You will work closely with the service directorate to understand their needs and help support them deliver departmental and corporate objectives.
