The Role:

The Southwark Markets and Street Trading Team is looking for a Senior Commercial and Admin Officer to assist the Street Trading Manager in overseeing the administration and business development of the Markets and Street Trading operations.

To lead a team providing administrative support, to ensure that the business unit provides an efficient and effective service, which meets service, legislative and council policy requirements, through business co-ordination and administration of contracted works, services and infrastructure.

To organize the daily priorities for commercial and admin officers including, work planning, task allocation, target setting, monitoring performance.

To deputize for the Markets Manager and Markets Team Leader with all admin and commercial issues and bookings of pitches and promotional stalls in their absence

In this role, you will supervise commercial and administrative officers who will report directly to you. You will provide guidance on street trading practices when the Street Trading Manager or Team Leader is unavailable.

You may occasionally be the primary contact for the department and must handle all queries promptly and concisely. Your ability to manage conflicts under challenging circumstances and experience in dealing with complaints are important aspects of the role.

You will be responsible for coordinating with technical support to ensure the smooth operation of the online booking system.

Providing financial and performance data to ensure the preparation of accurate reports and effective debt management is also part of the role.

About You:

We are looking for an individual with an excellent standard of literacy and numeracy. Ideally, you should have experience in financial management and familiarity with finance systems like SAP. The ideal candidate will be exceptionally organized, able to handle high work volumes, build strong relationships with traders, and address queries efficiently. Proficiency in IT and familiarity with our licensing system are essential. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary. A good understanding of street trading legislation and licensing policy is required.
