The role
Following a recent restructure, we are looking for an exceptional individual who understands the importance of dealing with the administration of preparing for and letting void properties efficiently and effectively.
Working in the voids and technical team you will leading a team of seven accommodation and lettings officers in viewing and lettings properties quickly, you will be responsible for smooth and efficient key to key processes within the team.
You will be working alongside the senior technical officer and you will be reporting to the voids and technical services manager. The role will be delivered across general needs properties, temporary accommodation including supported & family hostels.
Key responsibilities will include:
• To lead the team of accommodation and lettings officers, to provide a customer focused and approachable team leadership presence in Southwark’s voids service to include temporary accommodation and hostels
• To ensure the accommodation and lettings team supply correct information to Housing Options to enable the property to be advertised and update iWorld as necessary, and to ensure the accommodation and lettings team works in unison with the council’s nominations team to ensure properties are allocated to quickly and efficiently and that information is provided to applicants to ensure the best possible opportunity for a successful viewing and/or sign up.
• Responsibility for assigning work streams within specific areas, including attending handbacks and agreeing the return of void properties and attending weekly meeting with the relevant contractors.
• To ensure the accommodation and lettings team provide accurate information to all households viewing council properties about the property and its amenities.
• To coordinate, produce and report against performance documentation within milestones/deadlines and liaise with colleagues as required. Responsibility for ensuring void trackers and other document configuration; managing circulation and version control and inputting into quality and change control.
• Working with your team, identify and record vulnerability issues, in collaboration with colleagues from Housing Options. To work with colleagues in housing and other departments/stakeholders to ensure that new tenants have the support and services required to sustain their tenancy; be it secure or temporary.
• To take a pro active approach to Inter-departmental and inter-agency working in job related areas, encouraging shared problem solving.
