The Role:
The primary role of this post is to develop and co-produce high quality outcomes focused Education Health and Care Plans. This post will require effective partnership working with schools, colleagues, parents and young people to ensure that the process is ‘done with, not done to’ all concerned.
As well as developing newly agreed EHC plans, the role has an additional focus on ensuring EHC plans for pupils who are changing phase are updated and amended appropriately and remain high quality.
The post also requires contribution to the other work of the SEN Inclusion and Monitoring Team and the wider SEND team; such as delivering training, representing the LA at mediation, supporting decision making through attending panels, and working with the SEND team on complex casework.
You will also have opportunities to work directly with schools, parents, colleagues and partner agencies at systemic and pupil level, supporting the development and enhancement of SEND best practice through offering advice and support.
About You:
We are looking for an experienced SENCO who is seeking an opportunity to contribute to the improvement of outcomes for pupils with SEND at both an individual and strategic level.
You will have in-depth knowledge of SEND legislation, and significant management experience in leading on its implementation in a setting.
You will have a good understanding of the challenges faced by settings, and an ability to find solutions.
You will be an excellent communicator who can engage with parents, pupils and professionals alike.
You will be able to work independently and as part of a team as needed, managing workloads effectively and maintaining high standards.
Additional Information:
- QTS status and substantive experience in post as a SENCO (with the National Award for SEND Co-ordination unless in post as a SENCO pre 2009)
- Soulbury pay and conditions (36 hours Monday – Friday)
- Permanent subject to satisfactory probation period.
