The role:

Southwark Council helps to facilitate the movement of traffic on our road network, whilst also maintaining the highest levels of road safety for vehicles, cycles and pedestrians.

We are looking for a school crossing patrol manager to champion health and safety on our road networks by managing a team of school crossing patrol officers across the borough.

As a School Crossing Patrol Manager, you will be responsible for delivering Southwark Council’s School Crossing Service,  by deploying a professional team of School Crossing Patrol Officers across the borough on a day to day basis, whilst facilitating the safe passage of children crossing the road and navigating difficult junctions outside Southwark schools.

You will manage our current team of School crossing patrol Officers (SCPOs), and carry  out recruitment and training  for new SCPOs,  alongside conducting health and safety inspections at crossing sites and reporting back to senior colleagues on key issues.

Part of the role would also require attending Southwark schools (within current Covid-19 guidelines) to promote road safety by presenting in school assemblies to Southwark’s students.

About You:

We are looking for someone with:

- Management and budgetary experience

- A customer focused approached

- Confident public speaker who can converse easily with all individuals

- Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and practice in relation to school crossings

- A UK driving licence
