The Role

The Public Health division are recruiting a Policy Officer to work in the Health Improvement team on a two-year fixed-term contract.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an ambitious team aiming to deliver England’s first digital NHS Health Check as a mainstream health improvement service; aligning and complementing seamlessly the in-person NHS Health Check programme.

The Public Health Policy Officer for Health Improvement will be responsible for developing, managing and delivering the Southwark Digital NHS Health Check implementation plan. You will work with direction from colleagues in the Council’s Technology and Digital Services Team, Commissioning and Procurement, and the Public Health division.

Taking the learning from the previous project pilots, the existing evidence base and a full market scoping exercise you will deliver a comprehensive competitive tendering process. On successfully securing a long-term provider the role will closely support the mobilisation of the service into mainstream delivery, ensuring expected performance targets are met and allied with the face-to-face health check programme and associated risk reduction health interventions. The role will also take a lead on a range of additional prevention and health improvement programmes and projects.

About you

You must have excellent leadership, communication, partnership working, analytical and report writing skills, with an interest in digital health technology and transformational behaviour change. You will be highly organised and comfortable working within a fast-paced and complex political environment. You will be competent and knowledgeable of digital and technology service design with a strong commitment to tackling health inequalities.
