The Role

The Team 

As a Higher Apprentice Project Support Officer, you will work in the Organisation Transformation service. Modernise is responsible for Southwark’s ambitious modernisation strategy which includes transforming the way we work, making our workspaces better for our diverse workforce and changing our use of technology to make us fit for the future. The Project Support Officer will sit in the Workplace team who deliver projects that deliver transformation changes to Council offices and resident facing services across the Council. The Workplace Team lead on work to rethink the design of workspaces so that they can best accommodate different kinds of work, workers, and technology. The team work to create attractive, flexible and inspiring work environments that support new work ways of working, maximising the benefits of the Councils office accommodation through diversified facilities and creating opportunities for staff to work together in collaborative spaces.

The Role

A key part of the team’s work is to support teams in; moving, changing and improving their accommodation in corporate offices. As a Project Officer in the Workplace team you will work on a variety of projects with colleagues across the whole organisation. You will support day-to-day business as usual activities as well as delivering key projects in large scale transformational workplace programmes.

You will assist project managers, working closely with colleagues in; Facilities Management, Regeneration, Property as well as with external designers, architects and furniture companies working with front line services to understand their requirements and translate these into workplace designs. Through your role you will have the opportunity to practically apply Project Management methodology supported by a team of experienced Project Managers.

You will work across Southwark Council with a huge range staff, allowing you to get a deep understanding of our services. Whether it is our Council’s cabinet members, strategic directors, or frontline services as well as residents, you will be responsible for working with them collaboratively to gather their requirements, concerns and feedback to shape the future delivery and drive change.

You will need to demonstrate your ability engage well with customers and stakeholders at all levels and good team working spirit.
