The Role

Are you excited about how we could work in the future at Southwark? Want to make a difference and be involved in shaping how we work going forwards? Are organised and enjoy working with people? Or have experience in supporting getting tasks done? Then this role is for you. The Way We Work programme forms part of the work around Southwark 2030 and is Southwark’s answer to how we get to where we want to be as an organisation in the future, looking at a range of projects such as hybrid working, office accommodation, growing our talent and many more areas. We work across the organisation in a collaborative way, and like to get into the work around us to ensure that we see tangible change from the work we do.

The successful post holder for the Project Support Officer will have demonstrable experience in supporting administration tasks and skill in assisting teams or senior managers to ensure that the desired outcome is achieved. They will work closely with the team, but particularly the Programme Manager, supporting them to achieve deadlines and lead different tasks. As it is a new role, there will be an opportunity to shape the role and chances to grow and develop skills – especially in things such as project management, communications and cross organisational working. This role will also serve as a point of contact for the programme – meaning exposure to the organisation, but also that there is requirement to have excellent interpersonal skills.

As a team we model the change we want to be in the organisation – we work with others, embodying active listening, challenge each other and our own views, learn from our mistakes and celebrate our successes. We know that it is a challenge, but every step gets us closer to where we want to be – with this role helping to ensure that things happen, making this role key to the future direction of Southwark.
