The Role:
As part of Southwark’s Healthy Weight Strategy, Southwark is taking a whole system approach to improving healthy eating of children and families. This includes increasing the number of eligible residents registered for and accessing the Healthy Start scheme, and undertaking the Southwark School Meals System Transformation programme which aims to strengthen Southwark's school food system.
This role forms part of the Health Improvement team within a large and ambitious Public Health division at Southwark Council. The Project Officer (Healthy Start and Healthy Eating) will lead the coordination of Southwark’s Healthy Start scheme, including training development, promotion and monitoring of the scheme and will work with providers commissioned by Public Health to deliver and evaluate services that promote and facilitate healthy eating for residents. They will also support the delivery of Southwark’s School Meals System Transformation programme, through monitoring and programme evaluation work.
About You:
You must have working knowledge of Healthy Start and the School Food Standards, as well as excellent project management, communication and partnership skills. You will be creative, highly organised and comfortable working within a fast-paced and complex political, outcomes-oriented environment. A strong commitment to tackling health inequalities is expected.
This role will be ideal for someone seeking to gain experience within Public Health who has experience of utilising data and evaluation.

The project officer is funded for an initial period of 18 months with potential to extend.
