The role

Southwark libraries are valued by our customers for providing high quality and accessible services, with convenient opening times in easy to reach locations. We have a vacancy for a part-time project manager to deliver key library and Council plan capital projects including a new Walworth library and heritage centre and a new library and community space as part of the Aylesbury estate regeneration.

As a member of the libraries management team, you will also contribute towards the policy formulation, planning process and implementation of a new library and heritage strategy to develop the service so that it can respond to and support key corporate, regional and national priorities.

We are looking for an experienced, flexible and dynamic person to further develop Southwark’s already successful library service and to maximise their benefits to local people. Working to the Libraries & Heritage Manager you will be responsible for leading on projects to deliver new library and heritage buildings, including project monitoring, undertaking qualitative and quantitative research, consultation and benchmarking with stakeholders and staff and working with service teams involved in the projects, ensuring best value and improved services to residents, including those at risk of exclusion.

You will need to have an understanding of the role of libraries and heritage in regeneration, economic and community development, investment and planning issues in an urban/inner city area. Be Educated to degree level or equivalent in an appropriate discipline and have a minimum of three years experience, in an area of work related to the delivery of projects or programmes. Have experience of project monitoring, governance and reporting approaches, financial management, including budget planning and monitoring. An ability to work effectively with service managers in all departments to achieve objectives for regeneration and service delivery. Be customer focused and driven by the achievement of high standards and achievements through service/business delivery and performance targets.
