The role

You will be part of the council’s Local Economy Team: a fast-paced team with a range of important, high-profile council commitments to deliver, in support of the council's ambition to deliver a green, thriving and inclusive economy’ that benefits everyone. This includes supporting our local high streets to thrive; helping local businesses to start and grow while reducing their emissions and environmental impact; supporting our residents into good jobs and opportunities that will earn them a fair wage and narrow inequalities; and offering a first-class local skills offer to help people of all ages to progress in their careers of choice.

Your duties and responsibilities will be wide ranging and will include:

  • Assisting officers with the reporting of progress against the council delivery plan.
  • Undertaking a range of administrative duties to assist with team projects including, drafting correspondence, undertaking research and statistical analysis, drafting reports and documents, and updating and maintaining computerised record systems.
  • Undertaking project activities that are necessary to meet the requirements of the apprenticeship standard.
  • Assisting in the monitoring and evaluation of contracted services to ensure these are of the highest quality and provide value for money.
  • Assisting in the planning and delivery of internal and external meetings and events.
  • Working with a flexible approach and being supportive to work colleagues and to other apprentices.
  • Ensuring that all tasks are completed to agreed timescales, standards of accuracy and presentation.
  • Attending a course of study with the assigned learning provider or college, participating in lessons, and undertaking required assignments, projects and tests within the required timescales.
  • Meeting the course commitment as directed by the learning provider or college, to present evidence portfolios, units of assessment, assignments, and sit exams.

Required educational qualifications:

Five GCSEs grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), including English and maths. And one of the following:

  • Completion of advanced apprenticeship
  • Level 3 NVQ/SVQ
  • National BTec Qualification
  • 2 passes at A-Level

Additional salary details

You will be employed on a 2-year contract and will participate in the council’s apprenticeship programme to gain a professional level of project management skills. This will be achieved through a combination of workplace learning and attending a course of study with a designated learning provider to attain a qualification that meets the requirements of National Occupational Standards at Level 4.

The role will be developmental. You will need to demonstrate a commitment to undertake the studying and attendance required to obtain the apprenticeship qualification, building on your existing knowledge, work experience, and skills.
