The role

This is an important and influential opportunity based within Southwark’s Quality Assurance Unit. The Professional Educator supports a cohort of Newly Qualified Social Workers through their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment.

We have an established, well-respected ASYE programme which supports early career social workers in developing outstanding social work practice.

The professional educator is responsible for co-ordinating the ASYE assessment process by supporting ASYE Assessors and NQSW’s in navigating the required assessment framework and portfolio development. This is an interim role as we recognise that the current Job Description, which was developed in 2017, needs to be refreshed and updated to reflect the current aspirations for our division-wide early career support and development offer. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of the early career support and development strategy.

About You

We are looking for candidates with Social Work England registration and experience in management, leadership and the development of others within children and families social work.

The role also requires that you hold a current PEPS1 qualification and you must also have, or be working towards a PEPS2 qualification.

You will be a passionate, skillful, and experienced social work practitioner who is keen to develop outstanding social work practice and outstanding social work practitioners. We need a person who is child-centred, has strong practice values that focus on strengths-based approaches, genuinely values collaboration with families and communities, and is relationship-based in their approach to all that we do.

The successful candidate will be informed by evidence, apply deep and critical analysis of issues drawing on evidence based frameworks and support and influence best practice at every level with the organisation.

You will also be highly organised and able to demonstrated skills in connecting and influencing across complex multi-faceted organisations in a genuinely supportive and collaborative way. You will also be fair, kind and compassionate. The Audit and Learning Service is underrepresented by Global Majority Social Workers and Male Social Workers, who we particularly want to encourage to apply for this fantastic role.

Additional Information:

- This is a 6months Fixed Term Contract for 6months

- Standard, 36 hours Monday - Friday 

- An Enhanced DBS check will be required

- SWE registration  is required
