PASSIONATE ABOUT SOCIAL WORK?

As the Principal Social Worker for Southwark’s Children & Families Service you will take the lead in driving forward our programme of continual improvement and professional development, all of which is designed to underpin our arrangements to safeguard and promote the welfare of children & young people. You will provide support and challenge to practitioners and managers at all levels, helping to create an environment for high quality practice to flourish.

You will manage practice educator roles as well as those supporting the ASYE and Step-Up to Social Work cohort. You will coordinate all learning and development activity across Children & Families Services to advance learning capacity and also work with the South East London Teaching Partnership to contribute to practice learning arrangements for the children’s workforce. You will have a key role in supporting the quality assurance framework.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate the link to practice combined with sound management experience in children's social care; an ability to interpret key performance indicators and other complex information and use this to drive improvements in practice. You will be an excellent communicator who can work collaboratively with all parts of the children’s workforce and the wider safeguarding partnership; an influencer who can provide challenge and move to resolution, and who has excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will understand the legislation and statutory responsibilities that govern our work with children and their families, and use performance indicators and quality standards to benchmark our service delivery.

We are looking for someone who retains a passion for social work and its ability to change outcomes for children, young people and their families and who will proactively support the work of skilled and committed practitioners.

Additional salary details

Salary range : £49,293 - £61,755 plus a cash benefit to the value of £2,724- pro-rata (subject to annual review)
