The Role:
The Positive Behaviour Support Worker works with children, young people and adults with learning disabilities and/or autism. The role is based within our All Age Disability Team. This is a multi-disciplinary team that works with our most challenging and complex service users who are at risk of placement or family breakdown, but also undertakes preventative work with families, children, young people and adults with disabilities.
As a Positive Behaviour Support Worker you will be expected to develop support plans and implement behaviour interventions for children, young people and adults with learning disabilities and/or autism. This will involve working with the service user and their families; providing consultation, advice and training, and behaviour analysis.
The team use the clinical frameworks of Applied Behavioural Analysis and Positive Behavioural Support.

About You:
We are looking for candidates with experience of working with children, young people and/or adults with a learning disability and/or autism who are able to manage challenging behaviour. Good communication and interpersonal skills are important for this post; as you will be required to work with a range of professionals as well as families/carers.
Knowledge of disabilities and their impact, as well as knowledge of and experience in using applied behavioural analysis and positive behaviour support interventions is important. An understanding of social care and in particular in relation to safeguarding practice would also be important for any applicant.
These are new roles in an expanding multi-disciplinary service so we are keen to hear from people with enthusiasm for working with people with disabilities and with the required experience and skills.
Additional Information:
- 36 hours Monday - Friday
- This is a x2 post FTC position for 12months
- Enhanced DBS check is required for this role
- As a frontline role and service, candidates will be expected to work in borough. This includes attending the office and visiting families and placements.
- The post holder may be required to work outside of normal working hours to meet the needs of the service
- Successful candidates will be required to adhere to current government COVID-19 vaccination guidelines.
