About the Role:
Are you ready to make a real impact on children's health and well-being? The Public Health Division is thrilled to announce a fantastic opportunity to join our team as a Policy and Programme Officer for School Superzones on a permanent basis. This is your chance to lead and develop Southwark’s innovative Superzone approach, driving forward the Healthy Place agenda across London in collaboration with the GLA.
Superzones are all about transforming urban environments to create healthier, safer spaces for children. As part of our dedicated team, you will be at the forefront of this exciting initiative, using local authority powers to shape a healthier future. You'll gain invaluable experience working independently on a high-profile, politically significant project within a passionate and dynamic public health team.
Your role will involve:
- Leading the strategic planning and execution of ground-breaking public health programmes and projects.
- Expanding the Superzone programme across Southwark, building strong, supportive relationships with schools, and offering expert public health advice.
- Collaborating with the GLA and other London boroughs to promote health equity and reduce disparities.
- Supporting top-tier commissioning, health needs analysis, and the creation of impactful public health strategies and reports.
- Managing programme budgets and overseeing a team of Public Health Programme Assistants.
About You:
We’re seeking a dynamic individual who is passionate about public health and ready to make a difference. To excel in this role, you should have:
- A Master’s in Public Health or a relevant postgraduate qualification, or equivalent experience.
- A solid understanding of health services, social care, health protection, and the wider determinants of health.
- Proven project management skills and experience in public health methodologies to develop and assess health policies, programmes, and strategies.
- Experience conducting health needs assessments through the analysis of public health data.
- Expertise in evaluating public health interventions to measure and enhance their impact.
Additionally, you should be:
- A strong programme manager with exceptional communication skills.
- Capable of building impactful partnerships and acting as a key contact for partners, providing support and advice.
- Confident in using data intelligence, health evidence, evaluation methods, and performance management approaches.
- Skilled in managing multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery and maintaining high standards in communication and report writing.
