The role
The Role:
The successful Planning Lawyer will have a varied transactional caseload to include but not limited to:
- 106 agreements,
- 278/38 highways agreements,
- Defending judicial reviews,
- Providing advice and assistance in relation to general planning law,
- Planning appeals,
- Planning enforcements,
- Environmental law,
- Governance advice and,
- Occasional attendance at committee meetings (evenings).
You will have exposure to some complex matters and the ability to pick up a full and varied caseload from the outset is essential. This is a well-respected team within the industry.

The council operates on a hot-desking basis. The team are collaborative, supportive, and friendly. You will benefit from working alongside experienced colleagues who are generous with sharing their knowledge.
The council operate a hybrid working policy. Full- time staff work 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

About You:
You will be an admitted Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX of England and Wales with a current practising certificate. Foreign qualified candidates with the requisite experience, and right to work in the UK without sponsorship are encouraged to apply.
You will possess a minimum of 3 years post admission experience.
You will be a team player, able to work autonomously, generous in sharing your knowledge, have a can-do attitude and be open to rolling your sleeves up and helping the team.

This post is classified as ‘Hard to Fill’ and attracts the following remuneration package;
• A hard to fill benefit payment of £2,327 which can be redeemed against gym membership, health insurance, season ticket purchase, bicycle purchase, additional voluntary contribution to pension, subscription and professional fees.
• 5% Market factor supplement in addition to the annual salary.
