The Role
Southwark Council is recruiting 2 Personal Advisors to join us on our continuing improvement journey.
Personal Advisors are key colleagues in Children’s services work, fulfilling a statutory function, working with care leavers (aged 18 to 25) to befriend, advise, assist and enable them through both providing practical support directly but also through mobilising multidisciplinary networks in the statutory and not for profit sectors

Your primary aim will be to help our care leavers to make a successful transition to adulthood through practical and planned interventions.
You will be passionate about making a positive difference to care leaver’s lives and will want to work with our young people to clearly and SMARTLY set out their goals in Pathway Plans and work with them to achieve their ambitions.
We are highly ambitious to continue to improve outcomes for our children, including increasing numbers of children and young people in education, work and training, developing our expertise and practice in safeguarding young adults and ensuring good accommodation outcomes.
We are determined that all Looked After Children and Care Leavers are provided with the very best opportunities, support and pathways to successful independence.
The collaborative nature of the work requires excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills. A key part of the role is relationship building and timely written recording on file , at the latest by the next working day.
