The role

About Southwark

Southwark is a large, ambitious and progressive council with a ‘can do’ attitude and enviable reputation. As a Council, we are successful, passionate and forward-thinking. We are committed to our ‘Fairer Futures for All’ promise which ensures that our residents and businesses are central to everything we do.

At the heart of Southwark Council’s work is our Adult Social Care division.  With a budget of over £120m, we aim to provide access to high quality information, advice and coordinated community services that prevent, reduce and delay the needs for social care support.  Further, for adults and carers with support needs, we aim to provide access to services which provide choice and maximise independence, enabling people to live healthy, safe and fulfilling lives in their communities.

The Role

An opportunity has arisen in our Adult Social Care Division’s Personal Budgets and Client Finance Service for a Team Manager to lead our new Payments Team.  The successful candidate will lead a team processing payments to third party providers and making payments to recipients of direct payments and will build effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including the Council’s Financial Control and Processing Team, the Professional Finance Services Division, the Commissioning Division and Children and Families Division. If you want to make a difference at a local level, apply to Southwark Council today.

Additional information

Candidates should have a degree-level qualification and have knowledge of policies and approaches around personal budgets, direct payments and provider payments.

Please note this role requires a Satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at an enhanced level.

We are an organisation who is passionate about our people and understands that richness of diversity is a requirement to provide the best possible services to our communities. This is demonstrated through our council-wide ambitious commitment to tackle racial inequality in our communities and workforce through our Southwark Stands Together initiative. We particularly welcome applications from members of the black, Asian and ethnic minority communities to increase representation at senior management level in the Council.
