Join Southwark Council: Parks Officer – Burgess Park

The Role
Are you passionate about creating vibrant, thriving green spaces that bring communities together? Southwark Council is looking for a Parks Officer to oversee the maintenance, development, and improvement of Burgess Park, one of our award-winning and diverse green spaces located in the heart of the borough.

This is a key role that requires energy, vision, and commitment to ensure our parks remain exceptional. You’ll work to:

  • Monitor the grounds maintenance contract for Burgess Park, ensuring high standards of care.
  • Collaborate with council teams and contractors to manage trees, biodiversity, and other environmental assets.
  • Support Southwark’s response to the biodiversity crisis and climate emergency.
  • Drive innovation and improvements across our green spaces.

About You
We’re looking for someone who shares Southwark’s dedication to delivering high-quality green spaces and tackling environmental challenges. If you’re an enthusiastic and proactive professional with the ambition to shape the future of our parks, we want to hear from you.

To thrive in this role, you will:

  • Have a strong operational knowledge of parks management and a track record of improving services in a customer-focused environment.
  • Bring experience in areas such as parks operations, contract management, horticulture, tree services, and ecology.
  • Be passionate about using green spaces to address the climate emergency and enhance biodiversity.
  • The post holder may be required to work outside of normal working hours to meet the needs of the service
    The post holder may be required to work in other operational areas to meet the needs of the service.
