About the Service
Every child and young person deserves a good start in life. But for some children, these formative years aren’t going as well as we’d hope. This is why we are developing and transforming our early intervention service delivery to a Family Hub model. This is an innovative programme delivering wholesale reform of the delivery model of support to parents, carers and children aged from conception to age 19 or up to 25 for those with special education needs and disabilities. We are developing new ways of supporting parents with the skills and knowledge they need for their children to thrive and reach their potential.
About the Role
We are seeking to appoint a Parenting Practitioner who will deliver a menu of evidence based practice and intervention programmes to parents and carers of children aged 0-2, supporting parents with the skills and knowledge they need.
The Parenting Practitioner provides timely and flexible early help and family support to children, young people and parents/carers. They work in partnership with families and engage informal and formal support networks in their communities to ensure lasting positive outcomes. They encourage resilience to enable families to build strong relationships and strategies to deal confidently with the ups and downs of parenting.
You will:
- provide direct family support through a range of means including face to face in the family home, in community venues and online
- collaborate with families and partners to agree on where they need help, completing family friendly assessments and plans that look holistically at family needs and aims
- ensure effective monitoring of parenting interventions and the evaluation of outcomes to ensure support will strengthen family resilience, reduce family stressors and improve family outcomes.

About You
We are looking for an energetic and passionate practitioner who is social work qualified or holds a related professional qualification to engage and influence partners.
You will also bring:
- experience of working with parents and families, helping them to make changes to their lives by being tenacious and challenging but supportive,
- a passion and real commitment to the parenting agenda who will promote a reflective, learning environment
- knowledge and application of completing holistic family assessments and goal setting
- the ability to keep accurate records and follow policy and documentation procedures.
- experience of working in partnership with a range of agencies in order to deliver positive and effective outcomes for the families will be required.
- the ability to wok flexibly to meet the needs of families

Please note this post is fixed term until March 2025.
It is essential for this post that you undertake the training to become a EPEC Trainer and Parent group leader provided by South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.. The training can be undertaken within your working hours
