Summerhouse Behaviour Support Service - Primary Teaching Assistant (outreach & in house)

Summerhouse is a Behaviour Support Provision for Southwark primary aged children presenting social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, who are at risk of exclusion from their mainstream school.

We are seeking to appoint an inhouse and outreach Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic experienced team. We offer a supportive environment in which colleagues excel in sharing their specialist knowledge and skills to new staff and our mainstream stakeholders. You will offer emotional literacy support pupils who attend Summerhouse part-time. In addition to supporting children in our child centred therapeutic environment you will also, after an induction period, provide outreach support to pupils in Southwark mainstream schools. 

About you:

We are looking for a candidate who:

- Holds a relevant qualification in the fields of either education/social care/child care including but not limited to - a degree/diploma/NNEB/BTEC/QTS/Dip SW/NVQ3 or evidence of working towards a relevant qualification

- Successful experience of working with primary aged children with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.

- Is able to work as an integral part of a team

- Models exemplary positive behaviour management skills to pupils, parents and colleagues

- Is able to work directly with referred pupils on re-integration programmes in their mainstream schools and in Summerhouse

- Is able to support staff in mainstream schools who are working with children with identified emotional, social and behavioural needs

- Is open to learning to identify the emotions beneath the outward behaviours our children present and supporting them on their journey to better emotional literacy
