The Role:

We are recruiting NQSWs to join our vibrant social work teams across the Older Person and Physical Disabilities Service. All NQSWs will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills through our highly supportive and reflective Assessed & Supported Year in Employment Programme (ASYE).

The programme will provide NQSWs with access to regular and focused support and development, to guide them through to the end of their first year in employment. Support offered includes:

  • Regular supervision with a designated practice assessor (providing opportunity for reflection and learning)
  • A protected caseload (both in terms of volume and complexity)
  • Protected learning and development time (two days per month)
  • Regular reflective developmental workshops
  • Designated workplace buddy

Within this role, you will work with persons with care and support needs and other professionals as necessary in order to meet the needs of the Service. This includes the undertaking of assessments, providing ongoing support and proactively working with complex issues, family dynamics, legal issues, crisis, providing information and advice, transferring to another team as required.

The main duties of the role include completing Care Act assessments and devising care and support plans, completing reviews, completing Mental Capacity Assessments, chairing Best Interests meetings, working with people with complex social needs and making sure that the people of Southwark are receiving the support that meets their needs. 

There is also a Safeguarding function within the service, which includes assessing and investigating risk and undertaking Safeguarding Adult Enquiries as required.

 

About you: 

As a social worker you will be key in ensuring the welfare and assessed needs of those whom we support making sure they are managed in a safe and inclusive way. We are looking for enthusiastic, passionate and motivated newly qualified social workers to join our service. You will adopt a strength-based, person centred approach to your work, being able to balance challenging demands whilst growing and developing in your practice.
