Southwark Music aims to enrich the lives of all Southwark children and young people by making the learning of music dynamic, energetic, varied and fun. We do this through work in schools, our Saturday Centre and other events and projects.
 
The Role:

Southwark Music seeks instrumental music tutors for Whole Class Ensemble Tuition work in schools and instrumental teaching at the Southwark Saturday Music Centre.
Tutors will deliver instrumental/vocal tuition with children and young people of a wide range of musical abilities in a whole class or small group context.


Key duties include:
- Plan, resource and deliver imaginative, interactive and inspiring instrumental and ensemble music lessons.
- Establish and maintain positive behaviour for learning. 
- Organise and take part in performance opportunities available to pupils and to promote external playing opportunities.
- Be responsible for having up-to-date knowledge of developments in teaching and instrumental learning and to be able to implement these in lessons where appropriate.
- Keep accurate records of any Southwark Music Service instruments borrowed by pupils or schools and to keep these instruments labelled at all times.
- Ensure the general safety and wellbeing of pupils and to report any concerns to the appropriate member of staff.- Attend all training sessions and meetings required by the Head of Service.
 
About You:
The nature of the job requires initiative and a proactive approach as well as the ability to work under pressure.

For the Saturday Centre Instrumental Tutor role you must be available to work each Saturday in term time.

Additional salary details

Tutors will be paid between £32 and £40 per hour
